In a candid interview, Hana, a dancer in Japan who is the elder sister of TWICE’s Momo, opened up about the challenges of being related to a celebrity.

Hana’s appearance on Fuji TV’s “Can I Tell You Something Unexpected?” on April 16 stirred interest when she discussed the downsides of having a famous younger sister.

The conversation took a personal turn on the broadcast when a fortune teller asked Hana if she ever felt overshadowed by her sister’s success. Hana readily admitted to this struggle, explaining, “Being compared to Momo is a constant thing. We’re both dancers, and people often comment on our resemblance.” She then confided that these comparisons have negatively impacted her self-esteem.

Hana further shared her distress about being frequently compared to her sister Momo regarding physical appearance, saying, “Her style is better; she’s taller and slimmer.”

Hana went even further, sharing some hurtful comments she’s received, like, ‘You don’t resemble your sister at all! Maybe you should get plastic surgery.’ The studio reacted with disbelief, with co-star Michopa (Miyu Ikeda) expressing shock with “What?!” and “Seriously?”

Hana often posts pictures with her sister, Momo, on social media. There are instances where fans compare the two sisters’ appearances or leave derogatory comments about Hana’s looks, making her self-conscious.

The fortune teller advised Hana to have more confidence in herself. Hana nodded deeply, saying, “I guess I might have depended on my sister all this time.”

Hana, the older sister of TWICE’s Momo and a dancer, was born in 1994 and started learning dance at age 4. She began dancing professionally when she joined a dance team with her sister in the sixth grade of elementary school and is also actively working as a choreographer.
