Fans Slam Singer Mavis Hee for Short, Chat-Heavy Concert

Singaporean singer Mavis Hee is embroiled in controversy over her concert behavior.

On April 20, Mavis Hee (49) held a concert in Nanjing, China. However, she sang fewer than 10 songs, which caused controversy when the band sang some of her hit songs instead. She even spent most of the two-and-a-half-hour concert chatting with fans and singing for only 30 minutes. Some fans have gone as far as to call it the “worst concert ever.”

The audience members said the atmosphere was not great when the band started singing instead of Mavis Hee. Some fans even demanded ticket refunds or exchanges.

Mavis Hee’s agency reportedly responded, “If you don’t agree with how the concert is set up, you can leave.”

Responding to multiple media inquiries, a Nanjing Department of Cultural Tourism official explained, “We’ve received several complaints and are currently looking into the matter.” Mavis Hee’s agency has remained silent.

Disappointment lingered for Mavis Hee fans after her February event. Advertised as a concert featuring “at least 15 songs,” it turned out to be a fan meeting with a limited singing portion.

Mavis Hee was a renowned singer in the Chinese music scene in the 1990s, known for her hit songs “Moonlight in the City”, “The Cigarette You Smoke”, and “Pity”.

The comments on her social media posts currently show reactions such as “Don’t come to China” and “Give us a refund.”
