On the 12th (local time), the British media The Boot Room reported, “Ronaldo has recorded the highest number of followers on social media among football players worldwide. His number of followers is approximately 546 million.”

They continued, “Lionel Messi (36, Inter Miami) follows Ronaldo as the football player with the second-highest number of followers on social media among football players worldwide. Messi’s number of followers is approximately 486 million.”

They also explained, “Neymar (31, Al Hilal) follows Ronaldo and Messi as the football player with the third-highest number of followers on social media among football players worldwide. His number of followers is approximately 214 million.”

The media stated, “Ronaldo has recorded the highest number of followers. However, Messi was the most mentioned football player on social media this year. Messi was mentioned 11.7 million times on social media this year. In particular, the day Messi scored his debut goal in his debut match in the Major League Soccer (MLS) against Cruz Azul on July 21 received the most mentions, with Messi being mentioned 2 million times.”

They continued, “The country that mentioned Messi the most is the United States, which was more than twice as much as his home country, Argentina. The second most mentioned country is Argentina, and the third is Brazil. Surprisingly, Nigeria ranked 4th.”
