Honda CR-V Hybrid
6th Generation New Model Launches in Korea
What’s the Price Range?
As the ‘No Japan‘ boycott movement, which had caused a significant impact forcing Nissan to withdraw from the Korean market, begins to fade, Japanese car brands are seeing an opportunity for a comeback. Toyota and Lexus are showing clear signs of recovery, ranking 7th and 4th among imported car brands in last year’s sales figures.
On the other hand, Honda saw a sharp decline in annual sales to less than 5,000 units in 2020, ending last year with 3,140 units sold.
In response, Honda is planning a bold strategy to shift its sales network entirely online and launch five new models this year. Following the recent launch of the Pilot, the ‘CR-V Hybrid’ is also being released and is attracting attention.
Class-Leading Trunk Space
Standard Load of 4 Golf Bags
Honda Korea announced on the 21st that it will officially launch the 6th generation CR-V Hybrid.
The new model offers more interior space with a 75mm increase in length and a 40mm increase in wheelbase compared to the previous model. As a result, the second-row legroom has also increased by 15mm, and the seats support 8-step reclining, providing a comfortable interior environment.
Additionally, Honda Korea claims that the cargo space is the best in its class.
The basic capacity reaches 1,113L, which can hold four golf bags, and can be expanded up to 2,166L when the second-row seats are folded. The front has a rectangular glass design and optimized shapes of the A-pillar and hood, significantly improving the front view.
Combined Fuel Efficiency of 14.0km/L
Significant Improvement in Driving Assistance Specifications
The powertrain configuration includes a newly developed 2.0L direct injection Atkinson cycle engine and a next-generation 2 motor hybrid system combined with an E-CVT. The engine delivers a maximum output of 147 horsepower and a maximum torque of 18.6kg.m, and combines high-pressure fuel direct injection and multi-stage injection to achieve a combined fuel efficiency of 14.0km/L and performance. For the first time, Honda has adopted a full urethane cover and noise vibration absorbing material to improve quietness.
Honda’s driving assistance system ‘Honda Sensing’ comes as a standard specification, providing improved cruise control and lane-keeping performance due to the expanded recognition range of wide-angle cameras and radar. Traffic Jam Assist supports stopping and restarting in congested traffic situations, and the low-speed brake control function controls driving power during low-speed driving below 10km/h, helping to ensure safe and comfortable driving.
Unrivaled 10 Airbag System
Single 4WD Trim for 55.9 million won ($47,000)
The new CR-V Hybrid features a 10 airbag system, including rear side airbags and first-row knee airbags, ensuring collision safety in various environments. It also includes the Honda Connect remote vehicle management service, which allows users to remotely control the vehicle, manage its status, and receive emergency alerts through a smartphone app.
The All New CR-V Hybrid sold in Korea is available as a single four-wheel drive touring trim for 55.9 million won ($47,000). Customers can choose from five exterior colors, including white, gray, black, and hybrid-specific specifications of urban gray and blue. The purchase process is conducted through the ‘Honda Online Platform’, a new initiative introduced by Honda Korea, rather than through traditional offline stores.
