A woman in her 20s who falsely reported being sexually assaulted after having consensual sex with a coworker has been sentenced to prison.
On the 14th, according to the legal community, Judge Lee Joon-gu of the Seoul Central District Court, Criminal 18th single, sentenced Mr. Byun Mo (24), who was indicted on charges of false accusation, to six months in prison with a one-year probation.
Mr. Byun reported to the police in January this year that “Coworker A came into my house and forcibly had sex.” Still, the investigation revealed that she had consensual sex with coworker A.
The court stated, “False accusation not only actively infringes on the state’s criminal justice function but also poses a risk of unfair punishment to the person falsely accused,” yet it issued a suspended sentence.
