The Foreign Ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries strongly condemned North Korea’s repeated provocations.

According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun on the 8th, the G7 foreign ministers strongly condemned North Korea for not only repeatedly launching ballistic missiles but also providing weapons and ammunition to Russia, pointing out that “this is a violation of the UN Security Council resolution.”

According to related reports, the G7 foreign ministers announced this after discussing the Indo-Pacific issue at a meeting in Tokyo in the morning. Also, they expressed their support for the immediate resolution of the issue of Japanese abductees by North Korea.

They emphasized China’s direct participation and cooperation in major global issues. They confirmed the need to cooperate with China in global tasks and areas of common interest.

Yoko Kamikawa, the chair of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, explained the recent changes in Sino-Japanese relations, saying, “It is important to have direct dialogue with China.”

The issue of Ukraine also emerged as a topic. They shared the perception that they will not change their stance on strong support for Ukraine and responses to Russian sanctions. The G7 foreign ministers are expected to issue a separate statement after today’s meeting.
