On the 9th (local time), former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed her views on the issues between Israel and Palestine, stating, “I believe new leadership is needed in both Israel and Palestine to create an opportunity for any form of a peace agreement, especially in the ‘two-state solution.'”
Clinton stated that “we need to create an environment that allows for the rejuvenation of the peace process,” according to Bloomberg News.
Clinton questioned whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could be a partner for the ‘two-state solution,’ saying, “I don’t think there’s any evidence of that.” She continued, “I believe the people of Israel should decide his leadership.”
Clinton also addressed the possibility of a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas, predicting that “there would be a difference from a ceasefire that maintains a favorable situation for Hamas.” She said, “However, Israel would likely accept a temporary cessation of hostilities for humanitarian purposes, such as supporting civilians in the Gaza Strip and releasing about 240 hostages.”
Meanwhile, Clinton argued that the U.S. and Europe should not ease their grip on the issue of supporting Ukraine despite skepticism spreading in U.S. politics. She emphasized, “The more equipment we provide to Ukraine, the more they can defend themselves and reclaim their territories taken from them starting in 2022. That should be our goal.”
