[MyDaily = Gohyangmi Reporter] The worldwide idol group BTS’s V has been stalked by a woman in her 20s, highlighting the serious stalking problems celebrities face.

On the 17th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that a woman in her 20s, identified as Ms. A, was indicted without detention on the 8th for violating the Stalking Punishment Act and trespassing. Ms. A is accused of stalking behaviors such as finding V’s residence in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul at around 6:30 pm on the 26th of last month, following him into the elevator, starting a conversation, and handing over a marriage registration form.

Ms. A left the scene immediately after the crime but was caught on CCTV. It’s also reported that Ms. A had visited V’s house several times in the past. In response, V’s agency, Big Hit Music, stated, “We are responding with a zero-tolerance policy towards stalking crimes that infringe on the artist’s privacy and threaten their safety.” V reassured his fans through Weverse by saying, “Eh hey, I’m okay. Don’t worry.”

The celebrity couple Rain and Kim Tae-hee have also suffered similar stalking incidents. In December of last year, prosecutors indicted a person identified as Mr. B without detention on charges of stalking Rain and Kim Tae-hee. The prosecution said that Mr. B had visited the couple’s home located in Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul several times since 2021, causing anxiety by ringing the doorbell.

Mr. B had been fined three times for the same behavior a total of 14 times from March to October 2021 before the Stalking Punishment Act was enforced. Despite this, he continued to visit Rain and Kim Tae-hee’s home and was arrested on the spot by police who were dispatched after a report in February of last year.

The police did not indict the case, saying that they could not punish the acts committed before the enforcement of the Stalking Punishment Act. However, the prosecution decided that the crime committed after the enforcement of the law was the same in motive and method as before the law’s enactment and forwarded the case to trial by applying the relevant law provisions.

Lee Chan-won shared a scary stalking experience on JTBC’s *Living Room Trial* in February. He recalled, “It happened at a department store. An older middle-aged woman was a fan. I gave her an autograph and took a picture because she was a fan. But from then on, she followed me on every floor I moved to. She even followed my car.”

He continued, “The problem is, she followed the path I was taking. Her daughter was driving. It was stalking. It was really scary at the time. So I quickly turned into an alley to lose her. Because the department store was close to my home, if I went straight, my house would be exposed. So I had to quickly turn around and take a detour.”
