Thai-born Lisa
Unprecedented popularity in Thailand
Reactions suggest it’s a waste for her to be in BLACKPINK
BLACKPINK has been out of the spotlight for three months since their exclusive contract with YG Entertainment ended.
A recent news report states, “The members of BLACKPINK have not signed an exclusive contract with YG, but they will continue their group activities.”
Previously, only Rosé had re-signed, and there were rumors that Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa were moving elsewhere. However, YG stated, “Nothing has been confirmed yet.”
While the rumors of BLACKPINK not re-signing saddened fans, reactions in Thailand suggested it was a waste for Lisa to remain in the team.
Lisa, who hails from Thailand, is famous in her home country.
Whenever Lisa visits Thailand, the increase in tourists boosts the economy, and even the Prime Minister has praised her.
In response to the uncertain news of Lisa’s re-signing, international reactions included various comments such as “Go solo,” “Lisa might not re-sign,” “Honestly, Lisa is too big for the company and the group,” “If I were Lisa, I would leave but keep the team,” and “Lisa’s solo career is the most well-received and successful overseas.”
Meanwhile, on the 14th, YG Entertainment stated, “As of the disclosure date, we are currently negotiating for a re-signing contract with the artist, and the final result will be announced through a ‘future investment judgment related to major management issues’ notice regarding BLACKPINK.”
BLACKPINK completed the largest K-pop girl group world tour, BORN PINK. They met about 211,500 fans, including 250,000 over two days at the Coachella Festival in the U.S. and 65,000 at Hyde Park in the UK.
