Euisun Chung, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, has been named the Automotive Industry Leader of the Year.
On the 27th (local time), Automotive News announced the 2023 Automotive News All-Stars list of 38 people. It selected Chairman Chung as the Automotive Industry Leader of the Year, the highest honor among them.
History and Significance of Automotive News All-Stars Awards
Automotive News, founded in the U.S. in 1925, is an automotive-specialized media outlet. It has global influence through its online and Chinese editions, in addition to its English edition.
It announces about 30 global automotive industry all-stars every year through strict review and evaluation by its editorial team and affiliated reporters. Among them, the person who has demonstrated the most outstanding leadership in the global automotive industry over the past year is selected as the Automotive Industry Leader of the Year.
Automotive News said, “Chairman Euisun Chung is leading various future technologies and writing a new history of mobility,” and “Hyundai Motor Group is leading the innovation of the automotive industry,” explaining the reason for the selection.

They highly praised Chairman Chung’s disruptive innovation and future-oriented vision, transforming Hyundai Motor Group into a game-changer in next-generation mobility.
The electrification strategy and new business initiatives led by Chairman Chung were also among the reasons for the selection.
According to Automotive News, Hyundai Motor Group announced it further strengthened its position in premium automotive brands, purpose-built vehicles (PBV), electric vehicles, and hydrogen energy. They also reported that Hyundai Motor Group was making a significant investment of 63 trillion won (approximately $53.2 billion) for electrification and new technology development.
Continuing with their statement, it was mentioned that Chairman Chung had presented an innovative future mobility vision encompassing advanced robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). It was also noted that Chairman Euisun Chung’s vision was bold, future-oriented, and creative.
In response, Chairman Euisun Chung stated that the efforts of all Hyundai Motor Group employees and partners worldwide, who were working to realize the vision of “Progress for Humanity,” had been recognized.
Chairman Chung added that Hyundai Motor Group would continue to provide value beyond customer expectations through “smart mobility solutions,” including robotics, AI, Purpose Built Vehicles (PBVs), Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs), and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). Also, he emphasized that the delightful imagination of future mobility served as the driving force leading Hyundai Motor Group members to innovation.
