U.S., South Korea, and Japan Launch Real-Time Missile Warning System Against North Korea

On the 19th, the military authorities of South Korea, the United States, and Japan activated the real-time sharing system for North Korean missile warning information.
The Ministry of National Defense announced today, “The real-time sharing system for North Korean missile warning information has been verified for full operational capability through recent preliminary checks and is currently in normal operation.”
The Ministry added, “The three countries have established this system to detect and assess missiles launched by North Korea in real-time, ensuring the safety of their citizens and enhancing related capabilities.”
The Ministry evaluated the operation of the North Korean missile warning information sharing system as a measure agreed upon at the defense ministers’ meeting of South Korea, the U.S., and Japan in November, attended by South Korean Defense Minister Suh Wook, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and Japanese Defense Minister Kishi Nobuo.
The Ministry emphasized, “Today’s cooperative achievement will further advance a new era of trilateral security cooperation.”
In addition, the three countries have established a multi-year trilateral training plan to be implemented in 2024.
he Ministry of National Defense stated, ‘We will regularize trilateral exercises to conduct training more systematically and efficiently.’ It further emphasized, ‘In addition to ensuring peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region, including the Korean Peninsula, we will continue to strengthen trilateral cooperation.”
