The United States and the Group of Seven (G7) major countries unanimously condemned North Korea’s ICBM launch on the 19th (local time).
According to Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, G7 foreign ministers in a statement today condemned North Korea’s ICBM launch in the ‘strongest terms’ and called for the abolition of the nuclear and missile program, as reported by Japan’s NHK broadcasting and others.
The G7 foreign ministers have urged North Korea to dismantle its illegal nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities, stating that North Korea is enhancing these capabilities and escalating destabilizing activities. They called for the complete, verifiable, and irreversible dismantlement (CVID) of North Korea’s nuclear weapons, weapons of mass destruction (WMD), and ballistic missiles.
Additionally, they expressed deep concerns about the possibility of North Korea transferring its nuclear weapons and missiles to other regions. The ministers emphasized the need for a swift and robust response from the international community, including the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), to address North Korea’s continued reckless behavior.
