LG Electronics announced on the 28th that it will release its 2024 QNED TV equipped with a more powerful artificial intelligence (AI) based processor.
The ‘Alpha 8’ processor applied in the new product offers 1.3 times more powerful AI performance than the existing ‘Alpha 7’ delivering quality image and sound suitable for large-scale TVs. The graphic performance which represents text, faces, and textures on the screen has improved by 2.3 times and the processing speed which is responsible for app loading speed has improved by 1.6 times.
The enhanced ‘AI Image Quality’ technology distinguishes the genre of the video being watched and even the background in the screen on its own providing a three-dimensional screen. ‘Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro’ finely adjusts HDR effects and brightness by dividing each scene into zones.
In addition ‘AI Sound Quality’ technology converts 2-channel audio into a virtual 9.1.2-channel, offering richer sound. Customers using LG soundbars can enjoy three-dimensional sound through the ‘Wow Orchestra’ feature which makes the TV speakers and soundbar work together as if they were a single speaker system.
Along with this, the ‘Personalized Image Quality Setting’ feature provides optimized custom image quality from among the deep learning settings just by selecting a few preferred pictures. The unique advantages of QNED TV have been enhanced with precise color reproduction technology. The LG QNED Evo which applies Mini LED distinguishes brightness in a million steps based on 64 times improved contrast expression compared to the existing ones. In addition, it expresses deep and realistic image quality with ‘Precision Dimming’ technology which finely adjusts the contrast in each zone of the screen.
QNED85 and QNED80 models with a thickness of around 1.14 inches can be harmoniously installed in the living room interior and can also be mounted on the wall. Various technologies maximizing customer convenience have also been applied. LG Electronics is operating a ‘webOS Renew Program’ to allow existing TV users to enjoy the latest and differentiated TV experience through an operating system (OS) upgrade.
Through this, customers who own the 2022 ‘LG QNED Evo 8K’ series can enjoy a differentiated TV experience through the upgraded webOS’ every year for the next five years. This is the first time LG Electronics has upgraded the operating system of a smart TV and it plans to gradually expand the product line for QNED TVs in the future.
In particular, in ‘webOS24’ where individual account settings are possible, customers can categorize frequently used home offices, home hubs, sports, games, etc. into ‘Dynamic Q’ cards. The connectivity with mobile devices has been enhanced to improve viewing experience and convenience. Customers can easily connect Apple’s ‘AirPlay’ and Google’s ‘Chromecast’ to LG TV, allowing them to watch content and streaming services owned on their existing mobile devices with optimal image and sound quality.
To provide accessibility for a wider range of customers, including those with visual or hearing difficulties, it also supports a variety of TV usage conveniences such as △dedicated menu settings △sign language avatar △remote control learning △quick solution guide. In addition, the QNED large-scale lineup has been added. The 98-inch QNED TV unveiled this time is a product that reflects the interest and needs of customers for large-scale premium LCD TVs. With this, LG Electronics now has a full QNED TV lineup (43, 50, 55, 65, 75, 86, 98 inches) from medium to large scale.
LG Electronics plans to respond to customer demand and increase competitiveness by building a full large-scale lineup of QNED in the expanding premium LCD TV market.
