Russia has declined to comment on allegations that it used missiles supplied by North Korea in its attack on Ukraine.

During a briefing on the 9th (local time), Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, when asked about the U.S. announcement that Russia used North Korean missiles in its ‘special military operation’ against Ukraine, neither admitted nor denied it, but simply stated “no comment.” The Kremlin has strongly denied allegations of violating UN Security Council resolutions by trading weapons with North Korea, asserting that there is “no basis” for such claims, but this time it avoided mentioning the issue altogether.

Earlier on the 4th, U.S. government officials announced that Russia had recently received dozens of ballistic missiles from North Korea, some of which have already been used in Ukraine. In response, Ukraine has even publicly displayed wreckage believed to be from North Korean missiles.

Peskov turned the tables on Ukraine and the West, claiming that Ukraine used missiles supplied by the West to attack Russian civilian facilities. Russia has previously claimed that Czech-made Vampire rockets and cluster bombs were used in Ukraine’s air strike on Belgorod, a border town with Russia, on the 30th of last month.
