American actor Robert Downey Jr. (58) considers his performance as Iron Man to be his best.
On the 11th (local time), a podcast with actor Rob Lowe (59) featuring Robert Downey Jr. was released.
On this day, Robert Downey Jr. said, “I think I did my best work in the cocoon of Marvel,” and “I felt exposed (to the public), but I did not stand out because of the genre.”
Robert Downey Jr. also confessed that he felt the movie ‘Doctor Dolittle’ (2020) which he filmed after his contract with Marvel ended, “did not seem to go well.” He explained that everything he had been aspiring for evaporated, contrary to the popularity and stability he gained through the role of Iron Man.
‘Doctor Dolittle’ is a movie about the dangerous adventures of Doctor Dolittle (played by Robert Downey Jr.), who has a special ability to communicate with animals. The movie, which Robert Downey Jr. filmed after retiring from ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (2019), received much attention but unfortunately did not perform well. The movie recorded a domestic audience of 1.6 million.
However, Robert Downey Jr. showed a positive attitude in the podcast, saying that he learned a lot from ‘Doctor Dolittle’.
In Hollywood, rumors have surfaced that Marvel is considering bringing back original members for a new Avengers movie due to ongoing box office failures. Despite Iron Man’s death in the Marvel series ‘Avengers: Endgame’, it was reported that he was included in the comeback list.
In December last year, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige debunked the rumor of Iron Man’s return in an interview with local media Vanity Fair. He said, “We will cherish that moment and never touch it again.”
Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr. won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 81st Golden Globe Awards for the movie ‘Oppenheimer’.
