While priced at the lowest price among electric sedan models, its performance is comparable to more expensive models. Better, Hyundai has launched a significant cash-back incentive, offering up to $7,500 to US buyers of its Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Kona Electric car models through the end of January.
Supposedly, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 SE (RWD TRIM) costs $43,565, though the Korean automaker now employs a hefty $7,500 discount across the lineup. This aggressive move comes in response to Hyundai’s electric vehicles missing out on valuable tax credits under President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). With the incentive, the electric sedan is $36,065. The cash-back incentive also applies to Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Kona Electric car models through the end of January.
HMA’s pricing policy for the Ioniq 6 is notable because it is the cheapest among its competitors sold locally.
Compared to the 2024 Tesla Model 3 (based on equivalent models), it is cheaper by $4,565. Moreover, it is a whopping $14,235 less than the 2024 Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor, priced at $53,000, and is considered a competitor to the Ioniq 6 and the Model 3. The stylish design and performance of the Ioniq 6, coupled with its price, are attracting local drivers’ attention.
The Ioniq 6 is an electric sedan model that features the E-GMP, a platform exclusively for electric vehicles. It boasts a powerful motor output, a long driving range, quick and convenient charging, advanced safety specifications, linear design, and reasonable pricing. The Dynamic trim comes standard with a rear-wheel-drive motor that delivers a maximum output of 225 horsepower and a maximum torque of 35.7 kg.m. The Technic and Epic trims have an additional 74kW motor on the front axle, producing a maximum output of 320 horsepower and a maximum torque of 61.7 kg.m. It takes 5.1 seconds to reach a speed of 100 km/h from a standstill.
The battery pack capacity is 77.4kWh for all trims, but the driving range per charge varies depending on the output. The Dynamic trim, which uses only one motor, has a range of 614 km, while the Technic and Epic trims have a range of 519 km. Charging is handled by a 400·800V multi-rapid charging system. It supports not only regular 400V chargers but also 800V ultra-rapid chargers. With ultra-rapid charging, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
Local electric vehicle specialist media continue to give high praise. INSIDEEVs emphasized, “The Ioniq 6 is priced significantly lower than the cheapest electric car, the Tesla Model 3, and has a superior driving range per charge.
