Face of Woman Stabbed 190 Times by Boyfriend Revealed

wikitree Views

A man in his 20s, who had promised to marry and was living with a woman, stabbed her at least 190 times with a weapon, leading her to death. He has been sentenced to 17 years in prison. The victim’s family has revealed her face and appealed for severe punishment.

On the 11th, the Chuncheon District Court’s Yeongwol Branch’s Criminal Department 1 (Branch Chief Kim Shin-yu) sentenced Mr. A (28) to 17 years in prison for charges including murder.

Mr. A was charged with stabbing Ms. B, a woman in her 20s with whom he was living, over 190 times with a weapon at an apartment in Deokpo-ri, Yeongwol-eup, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do, around 1 pm on July 24 last year.

Mr. A reported himself to the police immediately after committing the crime and attempting suicide. After surgery, Mr. A underwent an investigation and stood on trial.

At that time, Mr. A stated that he murdered out of rage after hearing insulting remarks from Ms. B while dealing with conflicts over noise between floors with neighbors.

The prosecution requested the court to sentence Mr. A to 25 years in prison and to attach the electronic device to track location, considering the extreme brutality of his crime and lack of remorse.

However, the court claimed the decision as considering in the following way: “Although he brutally killed a cohabitant woman at home and did not receive forgiveness from the family” and “It appears that he committed the crime accidentally out of extreme stress originated from the noise between floors, he immediately reported to the police, and the defendant’s family paid the victim’s family compensation.”

Case Commander / JTBC

The family refuted this as a “premeditated crime”. On the 22nd, Ms. B’s mother claimed through JTBC’s ‘Case Commander’ that “In the profiling investigation, the perpetrator said, ‘I got a call from my girlfriend while I was taking a break at work. She told me to come home, thought I should kill her today, and left (for home).’ If you calculate the time the perpetrator arrived at the crime scene, took the elevator, and reported to the police after the crime, the murder and the perpetrator’s self-wrong took place within 20 minutes.”

Furthermore, she expressed her resentment stating the neighbors who had conflicts over noise between floors moved out a week before the incident, and his claim is the only evidence that her daughter made insulting remarks.

It is also the family’s position that Mr. A received a reduced sentence since the victim support center made a consolation payment. The family said, “We wrote a pledge not to make a private agreement with the perpetrator and received 42 million won. This consolation payment turned into a relief fund, and the state claimed the right to indemnity from the perpetrator, changing it to settlement money. What kind of parents would give their child’s life for 42 million won (approximately $35,000)?”

The family has also revealed B’s name and face, hoping for a severe punishment for Mr. A.
