On the CBS radio Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show, Lawmaker Kim said about the suspicion of First Lady Kim’s acceptance of a Dior bag, “When people are angry because they think someone in power has done something unfair, the only thing the person can do to escape is look pitiful.”

“In that case, the first lady should prostrate herself. As she has a very good sense of political affairs, she must choose a stronger method than ordinary people think to overcome this crisis. For example, he said that going to her private residence or abroad for a while could turn this situation around,” he said.

“There is no precedent for such a Dior bag hidden camera incident during a president’s term. The far-reaching power is significant. The problem is the forthcoming attacks from the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party always had election maneuvering during major elections. There is bound to be maneuvers related to the First Lady in this general election,” Lawmaker Kim argued.

He continued, “Currently, we are vulnerable to this, so there is a high possibility that our party will fall prey to the election maneuvers. President Yoon will have a tough time during his remaining term if we lose in this general election. Therefore, we must now make some decisions about realistic problems.”

Lawmaker Kim said, “(First Lady Kim) claims to be a hidden camera victim, but if the person who gives a bribe secretly films it, can’t the person who received the bribe be punished because they are a hidden camera victim? There is no such country or prosecutor in the world.” He pointed out, “Thinking that the problem can be solved just by the fact of the hidden camera is mocking the people.”

The controversy arose when a video that seemed to show First Lady Kim receiving a Dior bag worth 3 million won ($2,500) from Pastor Choi Jae Young, who had visited North Korea, at the office of Cobana Contents in Seocho-dong, Seoul, on September 13 last year, was released through the YouTube channel ‘Voice of Seoul’ in November of the same year.
