It has been reported that the Lunar New Year gift set sent by President Yoon’s office to various sectors and classes is being traded on multiple secondhand product trading sites.
According to Newsis on the 5th, the selling price of the gift set posted on the secondhand trading site is approximately 200,000 to 220,000 won (approximately $170 to $187). Some products are in ‘sold out’ status.
Previously, on January 31, the Presidential office announced, “We are planning to deliver traditional alcohol holiday gifts and President Yoon’s handwritten message card to senior figures from various sectors who have dedicated themselves to the development of the nation and society such as uniformed heroes, bereaved families, and socially vulnerable classes.” This gift set includes traditional alcohol, pine nuts, yuzu jam, and beef jerky.
Annually, the newly composed presidential gift set on the secondhand website is not the first time it will be traded. Last year, a People’s Power employee posted a trading article for the presidential gift set for 300,000 won (approximately $255) and was put on standby. Although trading personal secondhand items is not a reason for punishment, it was deemed inappropriate for an office worker on duty to resell the gift set for personal gain that was prepared with tax.
