Congressman Youn Kun Young of the Democratic Party of Korea commented on President Yoon Suk Yeol’s statement about the controversy surrounding his wife Kim Geon Hee’s luxury bag during the KBS New Year interview, saying, “The difference in perception seems too great.”
Appearing on MBC Radio’s “Kim Jong Bae’s Focus” on the 8th, Congressman Yoon said, “It feels like he came from another planet. I don’t understand how receiving a luxury bag could be political manipulation.”
He stated, “Does it become forgiven and not a crime if it is recorded on a hidden camera, regardless of whether it was bribery, assault, or fraud?” He added, “I don’t understand why only the president and the People Power Party seem unaware of what most people know.”
He continued, “In a word, it seems like they’re making a mockery of the people. The fact that she received a luxury bag is clear, right? As a citizen, I thought the president would at least apologize, but he didn’t even mention it.” He criticized, saying, “Rather, it was an interview that incites the people’s anger and adds fuel to the fire.”
Regarding the claim by Han Dong Hoon, the Emergency Measures Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, that “there were more suspicions about the first lady during the Democratic Party government,” he responded, “It seems like he’s sick.” He added, “The People Power Party always blames the previous government. I wish they wouldn’t blame the previous government. It’s not right to just vaguely say that the previous government did more.”
He also said, “Chairman Han is bringing up the issue of the first lady of the former president and the corporate card issue of Ms. Kim Hye Kyung. It’s like he wants to go into a mud warfare with the upcoming general election.”
