Hong Kong singer Andy Hui, embroiled in a past controversy, recently made headlines for his first on-air acknowledgment of the incident during a television appearance.
On April 13, Andy Hui appeared on the talk show “Zhishan Dates You” and discussed the affair that had sparked controversy.
Previously, in April 2019, Hui was embroiled in an affair scandal when a video of him being intimate with actress Jacqueline Wong, who is 20 years his junior, was made public. In the released video, the two were seen caressing each other and sharing kisses in a taxi, reportedly exchanging around 20 kisses over approximately 16 minutes, which stirred up controversy.
In the wake of a personal controversy, Hui publicly addressed the situation and apologized to his wife, actress Sammi Cheng. Thankfully, Cheng offered forgiveness. Later that year, the couple’s strong bond was displayed when they were seen enjoying a summer vacation in the U.K. for Hui’s birthday on August 12, sparking renewed interest in their relationship.
When the program’s host asked Hui what he would like to say to himself ten years from now, he indirectly revealed that he had completely overcome the difficult period he had gone through due to the affair scandal, saying, “(My future self) is extremely happy right now!”.
Throughout the show, Hui, who maintained his composure, showed emotional fluctuations when asked about the impact of the 2019 scandal, expressing surprise. After contemplating, he cautiously opened up, saying it was “the biggest wound in my life.”
Until now, Hui had avoided answering questions about the scandal during media interviews or events, often dodging or glossing over the topic. Despite his brief response, the fact that this was the first time he had directly addressed the affair garnered public attention.
