Hangout with Yoo Teaser
“Seventeen Built Up HYBE”
Subtitle Graphic Angers BTS Army
The subtitle graphics on “Hangout with Yoo” stirred anger among some viewers.
The latest episode of MBC’s entertainment show Hangout with Yoo, which aired April 20, featured scenes of the cast visiting the HYBE headquarters.
The cast members visiting the HYBE headquarters reacted enthusiastically: “It’s huge!” and “Hire me, too!” which drew attention.
While showing the inside of the new HYBE building, the subtitle caption followed, “HYBE’s new office, built up by BTS and Seventeen.”
This led to a backlash from the BTS Army, which had been with Big Hit Music, previously HYBE.
The artists who were with Big Hit Music include Lee Hyun, BTS, and Tomorrow X Together.
Big Hit Music acquired Pledis Entertainment, which houses artists like NU’EST and Seventeen, and continued to acquire Source Music, KOZ Entertainment, and others, changing its name to HYBE.
The caption suggesting SEVENTEEN built HYBE raised eyebrows, especially when Seventeen became a part of HYBE after the acquisition of Pledis Entertainment.
Some fans expressed their reactions: “BTS built it all from the beginning,” “It was already completed before the merger,” and “Even Seventeen, who was quiet, will get criticized because of the unnecessary subtitles.”
Eventually, the “Hangout with Yoo” team modified the scene’s subtitle to read, “The classy new office captivated the members.”
