The film Exhuma has reached a major milestone: It has become the first in the occult genre to attract 10 million viewers. The team behind the film recently shared this celebratory news.
At the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards held on May 7th, Exhuma won the Best Director, Best Actress, Best New Actor, and Art awards in the film category.
Exhuma, with its fresh subject matter, solid script, excellent direction, and explosive cast performances, attracted an audience of more than 11.8 million and gained immense popularity.
At the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards, following its nomination in 8 categories, it achieved a grand slam by winning Best Director, Best Actress, Best New Actor, and Art awards, setting a record for the most awards in multiple categories.
Notably, director Jang Jae Hyun, sound director Kim Byung In, and actors Choi Min Sik, Kim Go Eun, Yoo Hae Jin, and Lee Do Hyun all attended the awards ceremony.
Director Jang, who won the Best Director award, said, “It’s an honor to stand shoulder to shoulder with such great directors, and I’m thankful for this significant award. I’ll take it as an encouragement to work harder.”
Kim Go Eun, who won the Best Actress award, said, “First and foremost, I want to thank the director for entrusting me with Hwarim. I always work with a grateful heart, but through Exhuma, I felt even more thankful for the opportunity to act on set.”
Lee Do Hyun, who won the Best New Actor award, attended his first official event after his military enlistment. He said, “I’m truly thankful to Director Jang for choosing me for Exhuma. It was such a joy to act alongside my seniors.”
Additionally, sound director Kim Byung In, who created the sound of Exhuma and elevated the genre’s fun, took home the Art award.
Exhuma, which set a record for the most awards at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards, is an occult mystery film about strange incidents that occur to a geomancer, a mortician, and shamans who move a grave for a large sum of money.
