Big Bang’s G-Dragon recently shared a glimpse of his life through Instagram Stories on May 16th with the caption, “It is what it is.”
The photo revealed G-Dragon staring into the camera with a relaxed expression and protruding lips. His grown-out mustache and beard were something his fans hadn’t seen in a while.
Expectations for G-Dragon’s new album have been high ever since he announced he is preparing for a comeback in the second half of this year. Fans are reacting with comments such as “Could this be a spoiler for the album?” “Is this photo related to the comeback?” and “It’s just a regular update, but my heart is fluttering.”
G-Dragon’s representatives announced a collaboration with a French luxury perfume brand this April while sharing that he is preparing a new album, intending to make a comeback in the second half of this year.
G-Dragon has not released any new solo songs since the release of his solo album Kwon Ji Yong in June 2017. If G-Dragon makes his comeback as planned in the second half of this year, it will be his first in seven years.
K-pop fans both domestically and internationally, who have been waiting for new music for a long time, are expressing their anticipation for G-Dragon’s comeback, calling it the “Return of the King of K-Pop.”
Last year, G-Dragon hinted at a solo comeback in a surprise video prepared for fans for the New Year, saying, “I plan to return through various activities. I’m also preparing an album.”
