Blackpink’s Lisa Accused of Copying Travis Scott’s Music Video

BLACKPINK fans are becoming increasingly disappointed as the members keep making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Lisa was recently accused of plagiarizing in her music video for her new song “Rockstar.”

Having directed music videos for famous artists like Travis Scott and Pharrell Williams, director Gabriel Moses raised suspicions of plagiarism on social media on July 6, pointing out several scenes in Lisa’s “Rockstar” music video resemble Travis Scott’s “FE!N” music video, which was released last year.

Moses stated that Lisa’s team reached out to his editor about references, but even after the editor declined to participate, Lisa’s team went ahead with the music video. Although Moses commented on allegations of plagiarism against Lisa, her representatives have yet to release an official statement.

A Thai media outlet, Khaosod, also reported on the plagiarism allegations, noting that the music video directed by Gabriela Moses bears a striking resemblance to “Rockstar,” leading to increased skepticism.

Moreover, BLACKPINK member Jennie had to apologize for smoking a vape indoors.

On July 2, Jennie was criticized for blowing her vape smoke toward staff members in a recent vlog on her channel. As the controversy gained steam, the video was swiftly removed online, but an anonymous BLACKPINK fan claimed to have reported Jennie to the Italian embassy online.

Jennie’s agency, ODD ATILIER, acknowledged this controversy by sharing an official apology on July 9, “We sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable with Jennie’s behavior. Jennie is reflecting on her actions of smoking indoors and causing harm to other staff members. We apologize to the fans who may have felt disappointed and promise to show a more mature and better side of her in the future.”

In May, BLACKPINK’s Rosé was also embroiled in a controversy over alleged abuse of power. She and Jennie posted photos on social media capturing them hanging out and spending time together in the U.S. The images showed them enjoying an ordinary day, walking on the street, and sitting at a restaurant.

The photos caused a debate when fans noticed a man, who appeared to be a bodyguard, walking behind Rosé and Jennie, holding an umbrella for them.

Some argued that having a bodyguard hold an umbrella for them on personal time looked bad, while others defended them by saying there was no reason for criticism if he was paid fairly.

All four BLACKPINK members renewed their group contract with YG Entertainment last year but did not renew their contracts. Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa established their labels, and Rosé signed an exclusive contract with The Black Label.
