Electric vehicle technology is advancing rapidly. Due to motor and battery technology limitations, EVs have given way to internal combustion engine vehicles, and their position is gradually threatened. Most automobile manufacturers are moving toward full electrification as their ultimate goal.

Cadillac, long regarded as a symbol of American luxury vehicles, is taking notable steps in the market. Customer deliveries of the Lyriq, a meticulously crafted large SUV that marks Cadillac’s transition to full electrification, have begun. During the two-month pre-ordered period, all initial quantities sold out quickly, indicating a promising sales performance for the Lyriq.

Cadillac Aims to Restore Its Past Glory with the High-Performance Lyriq

What kind of vehicle is Lyriq? It is Cadillac’s first pure electric SUV. Attention is being paid to whether Cadillac will regain its tremendous reputation from the past through Lyriq, which Cadillac launched in the global luxury SUV market.

Lyriq is a large SUV built on the parent company General Motors’ EV platform, Ultium. It is equipped with a 102 kWh large capacity battery and dual motors to implement a four-wheel drive system. The maximum output is 500 horsepower, and the maximum torque is 62.2 kg·m, making it a vehicle worthy of classification as a high-performance SUV.

When compared to American electric SUV models like the Tesla Model X, the Lyriq stands out

The Lyriq, a large SUV weighing well over 2.5 tons (5,511 lbs), is not just a heavy tank. It is close to a luxury cruiser that can move agilely based on enormous power and a well-designed chassis. Rather than a young driver who only looks ahead and drives, it is a vehicle closer to a mature adult who knows how to distinguish when to move and move luxuriously.

Cadillac Lyriq is entering a market with intense competition from leading electric vehicles. Compared to the Tesla Model X, several key differences emerge. The Lyriq costs $63,000, while the Model X costs $79,990.

In terms of size, the Model X is larger overall than the Lyriq. The Model X measures 5,057 mm (199.1 inches) in length and 1,680 mm (66.1 inches) in height, compared to the Lyriq’s 4,995 mm (196.7 inches) length and 1,640 mm (64.6 inches) height. However, the Lyriq has a longer wheelbase at 3,095 mm (121.9 inches) than the Model X’s 2,965 mm (116.7 inches).

Both perform well

Lyriq is equipped with a new Oltium battery using LG Energy Solutions’ NCMA anode material. The driving distance on a single charge is 465 km (289 miles) for Lyriq and 478 km (297 miles) for Model X. Regarding curb weight, Lyriq is 2,670 kg (5,886 lbs), and Model X is 2,330 kg (5,137 lbs). The lyrics are heavier.

Considering the price difference, it seems a little more reasonable to purchase Lyriq. The driving range is similar, and considering Cadillac’s brand reputation, sufficient performance, and the advantages of a long wheelbase, it does not seem a bad idea to choose Lyriq.
