Fans Disappointed as BLACKPINK Skips Q&A at ‘BORN PINK’ Press Conference

tvreport Views

On July 26, YG Entertainment stated that BLACKPINK will not hold a Q&A session during the press conference for BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] IN CINEMAS, disappointing many fans and reporters.

Organized to celebrate their 8th anniversary and the release of the concert film from the BORN PINK world tour, YG Entertainment stated that all BLACKPINK members will attend the press conference on August 9 in Times Square in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. Walking across a pink carpet that signifies BLACKPINK, YG Entertainment shared that the members will meet and greet with fans in person. Still, it clarified that the event will not include the typical behind-the-scenes discussions, cast debriefs, and media Q&A.

BLACKPINK signed an exclusive contract with YG Entertainment last December for their group activities. Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa established their own companies for solo activities, while Rosé signed with The Black Label. This would be BLACKPINK’s first group appearance in 11 months.

BLACKPINK faced several controversies, including vaping indoors and plagiarism allegations.

Many people were outraged after seeing Jennie smoking indoors while receiving makeup in a vlog she uploaded to her YouTube channel. Many accused her of abusing her position of power as viewers claimed the smoke she exhaled was directed toward the staff working on her makeup.

Jennie’s agency, ODD ATELIER, has since apologized, stating, “Jennie reflects on her vaping indoors and the harm it caused to other staff members. She has personally reached out to the staff members to apologize.”

Lisa faced plagiarism allegations after her label LLOUD released her first single, ROCKSTAR. Gabriel Moses, the director of rapper Travis Scott’s music video “FE!N,” raised concerns after comparing clips from “ROCKSTAR” and “FE!N”.

“Lisa’s team contacted my editor and said that ‘FE!N’ was used as a reference. They produced the video despite the editor’s refusal,” Moses claimed.
