Kiss Gone Wrong: Man Nearly Dies After Girlfriend’s Passionate Neck Kiss

The story of a man in China who rushed to the emergency room after his partner’s kiss left a life-threatening mark on his neck is capturing attention.

Sanook reported that a man named An (pseudonym), residing in Hainan Province, China, was with his girlfriend, Lin (pseudonym), when she kissed his neck forcefully, triggering the incident.

In their late twenties, An and Lin enjoyed a romantic evening when she sat on his lap, asking him to help dry her hair. In this intimate moment, An lightly kissed Lin’s face, prompting her to kiss his neck with considerable force.

The intense kiss left several red marks on An’s neck. About 20 minutes later, however, he suddenly started having trouble breathing and began convulsing, eventually losing consciousness. Lin initially thought his condition was a joke but became alarmed when he remained unresponsive despite her repeated attempts to wake him. She then urgently called for an ambulance.

Upon arriving at the hospital, An regained consciousness but required a ventilator for several hours due to respiratory failure. Doctors diagnosed him with a blood clot in his left carotid artery, causing a sudden drop in blood pressure, heart failure, and loss of consciousness.

Medical professionals caution that significant pressure on areas containing major blood vessels, such as the carotid artery, can cause damage and potentially lead to blood clot formation. The carotid artery runs from beneath the ear down the neck and into the chest, critical for transporting oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the brain and face.

Lin’s forceful kiss caused severe bruising to this blood vessel, obstructing blood flow and disrupting the blood supply to the brain, resulting in cardiac arrhythmia.

Doctors typically expect kiss marks to fade within 5 to 12 days. However, they advise seeking immediate medical attention if experiencing significant pain or discomfort. They also stress the importance of avoiding excessive pressure on areas with major blood vessels during activities like kissing, sucking, or biting.

This incident is a stark reminder of how seemingly harmless displays of affection can lead to severe consequences, prompting public awareness. An is currently reported to be recovering.
