TV Report

Following an investigation by the police for drunk driving, BTS member Suga has issued a second apology, expressing profound regret and acknowledging the shame he has brought upon the band.

On August 25, Suga shared a handwritten apology on Weverse, a fan communication platform. In his message, he stated, “With a heavy heart, I want to apologize once again to all of you.”

He continued, “I deeply regret disappointing and hurting my fans and everyone who supports me. I failed to live up to the responsibility of acting in a manner befitting the love I have received, and I made a serious mistake.”

Suga explained, “On the night of August 6, I made the error of riding an electric scooter on the sidewalk after drinking. My initial apology on August 7 stirred significant controversy. I should have been more cautious, but I was not.” He added, “This is entirely my fault. My recklessness has caused distress to those who care about me. I will work hard to ensure that such behavior is never repeated and will carry this regret with me.”

He further acknowledged, “This incident has marred the cherished memories I have created with my members and fans, and I have brought shame to the name of BTS. I feel indescribably remorse and sadness for harming the members and the team.” Suga added, “I am sorry that the members, who have always believed in me, suffer because of me. I fully understand the disappointment of my supportive fans.”

Suga admitted, “I know that no words can heal the wounds and disappointment my fans have experienced. I deeply regret my actions and reflect on them daily with a heavy heart. Once again, I sincerely apologize to the fans who were hurt because of me.” He concluded, “I am prepared to accept any consequences and criticism that may arise in the future. Finally, I bow my head and apologize once again for causing social controversy and disappointment.”

On August 6, Suga was found lying intoxicated on the street in Hanam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, while riding an electric scooter. A breathalyzer test revealed his blood alcohol concentration was 0.227%, indicating he was heavily intoxicated.

Following the incident, Suga issued his first apology on August 7, saying, “I feel very heavy and sorry to deliver disappointing news. This is entirely my responsibility. I bow my head and apologize to everyone.”

Seventeen days after the incident, on August 23, Suga appeared at the Yongsan Police Station for about three hours of questioning before returning home. He reiterated, “I am deeply reflecting on and regretting my actions. I want to apologize for the pain and disappointment I have caused.”
