Jung Hae In captured the heart of Jung So Min after two heartfelt proposals. In the latest episode of tvN’s Love Next Door that aired on Sunday, Seung Hyo (played by Jung Hae In) prepared to propose to Seok Ryu (played by Jung So Min) by seeking advice from his friend Myung Woo (played by Jeon Seok Ho). Myung Woo confidently suggested, “You’re the pro, right? Let me give you some tips. First, take her to a baseball game. When the scoreboard lights up during the seventh-inning stretch, get down on one knee!”
Seung Hyo voiced his concerns: “Seok Ryu doesn’t like crowded places, so just getting her there is a challenge.” Myung Woo responded, “There’s always another option. Why not confess when the curtain falls at a play? That would definitely bring tears to Seok Ryu’s eyes.” When Seung Hyo asked, “Do women really like that?” Myung Woo assured him, “I’m not joking.”
Hearing this, Na Yoon (played by Shim So Young) encouraged Seung Hyo, saying, “Go ahead. If you want to risk rejection, then definitely do it.” She added, “Unless you’re covering the ticket price, don’t disturb someone else’s experience.” She then shared her three essential tips for a proper proposal: “No audience, a simple ring, and a heartfelt letter.”
When Seung Hyo questioned if his plan was too ordinary, Na Yoon replied, “What does it matter if that day feels ordinary? You need to make her feel special for a lifetime.” Seung Hyo smiled and said, “You’re right. Thank you.”
However, on the long-awaited day of his proposal, Seung Hyo encountered a series of mishaps. He accidentally burned his shirt, had his car towed after a minor accident, and the restaurant’s chef had to leave to attend to his wife’s delivery.
Despite the chaos, Seung Hyo held Seok Ryu’s hand tightly and proposed, saying, “There may be moments when I feel a twinge of sadness while you cook, especially since I regret not being there when you were too unwell to eat. So, can I be by your side through all your days ahead?”
He added, “This wasn’t the original plan. The flowers are at the repair shop, the food is gone, and the cake is a disaster, but thankfully, this is still here.” As he presented a bracelet, he asked, “Will you marry me?”
However, Seok Ryu replied, “I can’t get married. I won’t marry you,” rejecting Seung Hyo’s proposal. Shocked, Seung Hyo remained in a daze even after returning to his daily routine.
Seok Ryu revealed her intention to remain single due to health concerns. Having previously battled cancer and faced a broken engagement as a result, she stated, “I may look fine now, but I could become unwell again at any moment. My body is now one that could fall ill at any time.”
In response, Seung Hyo said, “Everyone has their own worries. I can’t guarantee that the things you fear won’t happen—I’m not a god, after all. But there’s one thing I want you to know: I want to be with you. Even if it’s just for a single day, I need to be with you.”
Seok Ryu then responded, “Me too. Honestly, I really want that,” accepting Seung Hyo’s heartfelt offer. However, their happiness was short-lived. The revelation of their secret relationship to both families added tension, leaving viewers eager to see how the “perfect son” storyline would unfold as the series approached its conclusion.
