T-ara’s Jiyeon is set to make her first public appearance since her divorce from baseball player Hwang Jae Gyun. She is attending a special fan meeting in Macau to celebrate the group’s 15th anniversary. The event, scheduled for Monday, will bring together fellow members Ham Eun Jung, Qri, and Hyomin for a long-awaited reunion with fans.
This upcoming fan meeting marks Jiyeon’s first engagement with fans as a T-ara member in two years. Despite the recent attention surrounding her divorce, Jiyeon has been active on social media, recently sharing a preview video for the fan meeting on her YouTube channel.
In the video, Jiyeon expressed her excitement: “Today, we have a group schedule for the first time in what feels like forever. I’m beyond thrilled! We’ve been working hard to prepare something special for our 15th anniversary, and it feels amazing to finally come together again.”
Jiyeon and Hwang Jae Hyun married in 2022, but their marriage ended just two years later. Jiyeon announced the news on Saturday through her legal representative, stating, “I’m sorry to bring you bad news. We have mutually agreed to proceed with divorce mediation.”
Her legal representative, attorney Choi Yoo Na from Taesung Law Firm, specializes in divorce cases and previously worked on the drama Good Partner. Hwang Jae Gyun also released a statement on the same day: “After much consideration due to our differing personalities, Jiyeon and I have agreed to divorce following a period of separation.” Despite the end of their marriage, both expressed their commitment to continue supporting each other in the future, with Hwang Jae Gyun adding, “I sincerely apologize to our fans for any disappointment this may cause.”
