Blazer EV 2025: Chevy’s All-Electric SUV Hits with 334-Mile Range

The downturn in the EV market
Chevrolet remains steady
Launch of the updated 2025 Blazer EV

Reddit

Despite the recent slowdown in the electric vehicle (EV) market, Chevrolet is charging ahead, unveiling the 2025 model of its Blazer EV. The previous version, the Blazer EV 2024, launched in 2023, performed well, earning accolades like the 2024 Motor Trend SUV of the Year and reaching the semifinals for the North American Car of the Year. However, a software issue in December 2023 briefly delayed North American deliveries, and as the “2024 EV Chasm”—a temporary dip in demand for cutting-edge EVs—deepened, the future looked uncertain. Nevertheless, Chevrolet is forging ahead with its refreshed Blazer EV lineup for 2025.

For 2025, the Blazer EV will offer all-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and front-wheel drive across all trims, giving customers more flexibility. The front-wheel-drive model sees a significant performance upgrade, with output jumping from 288 horsepower to 300 horsepower and torque increasing from 46.03 kg.m to 49.08 kg.m. The rear-wheel-drive variant also benefits from a power boost, offering better performance than its 2024 predecessor.

Improved Range and Competitive Pricing
Spacious Interiors and Upgraded Tech

Both the front-wheel and rear-wheel-drive models also offer an improved range. The front-wheel-drive version now travels up to 455 kilometers (283 miles) on a full charge, up by 6 kilometers. Meanwhile, the rear-wheel-drive model extends its range to 537 kilometers (334 miles), an increase of 16 kilometers (9.9 miles). Pricing adjustments have also been made—the front-wheel-drive Blazer EV starts at $48,995, a $1,200 price cut, while the rear-wheel-drive version now starts at $56,990, reflecting a $1,395 increase.

Despite having just two rows of seating, the Blazer EV offers a roomy interior that comfortably accommodates adults in both the front and rear seats. With the rear seats folded down, cargo space expands from 736 liters to a generous 1,699 liters, thanks to a flat floor design. Every model also has a 17.7-inch infotainment display and an 11-inch auxiliary display, providing crucial driving information and a sleek, tech-forward experience.

High-Performance SS Model and Affordable Entry-Level Trim

For 2025, Chevrolet is adding both high-performance and entry-level models to the Blazer EV lineup. The Blazer EV SS, set to launch in early 2025, features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with a powerful 595 horsepower and 89.17 kg.m of torque. It boasts impressive acceleration, reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds.

On the other end of the spectrum, Chevrolet is also introducing an entry-level Blazer EV with front-wheel drive, offering 220 horsepower and 33.59 kg.m of torque, providing a more affordable option for budget-conscious buyers. The 2025 models will also include new trim options, with the base LT trim offering Midnight and Sport packages and the LT and RS models featuring a two-tone roof. Additionally, all models will come standard with Chevrolet’s latest driver assistance system.

Looking Ahead: EV Market Challenges

The Blazer EV rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants are now available for order in the U.S., with the high-performance SS expected to hit the market in the first half of 2025. Despite the broader challenges facing the global EV market, Chevrolet is expected to push forward aggressively with its Blazer EV lineup, set to fully launch in 2025, with marketing efforts likely to ramp up in the coming months.
