Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven Concept
Set to be Produced as an Electric Supercar
Expected Performance Over 1,000 Horsepower
Mercedes-Benz is planning to mass-produce an electric supercar model based on the Vision One-Eleven concept car, which was unveiled in 2023. The Vision One-Eleven will follow in the footsteps of the brand’s first electric supercar, the SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive, which made its debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
The SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive was an ambitious step for Mercedes-Benz during the early days of the EV market. However, challenges such as high battery costs and slow charging speeds hindered its success, with only about 100 units produced before it was discontinued.
Built on EA Architecture
Equipped with High-Performance Electric Motors
The upcoming electric supercar will be built on Mercedes-Benz’s modular EA (Electric Architecture) platform, supporting the brand’s high-performance AMG lineup. This platform will debut with models replacing the AMG GT 4-door and will feature an 800V architecture, enabling ultra-fast charging capabilities.
Drawing on technology introduced in the Vision One-Eleven concept, the production model will incorporate a liquid-cooled cylindrical lithium-ion battery pack paired with a cutting-edge axial flux electric motor. This motor, developed by Yasa—a British firm acquired by Mercedes in 2021—boasts superior torque density, making it more efficient and significantly lighter than traditional radial electric motors.
Mercedes-Benz’s Hybrid Hypercar
Surpasses AMG ONE Performance
Designed in the shape of a disk, it is more than half the weight and size of the electric motor currently used by Benz. It is known that the electric supercar equipped with it will surpass the performance level of the AMG ONE, which was Mercedes-Benz’s first hybrid hypercar. The AMG ONE is a high-performance Formula 1 V6 turbo engine that is tuned and equipped with an electric motor, generating a total output of 1,063 horsepower.
While specific details about the upcoming electric supercar are still under wraps, it is expected to feature power levels exceeding 1,000 horsepower, thanks to the advanced technology from the Vision One-Eleven concept. The design may borrow some elements from the concept, though it’s unclear whether the final model will retain the same aesthetic or go in a different direction.
Featuring a retro design, the oval lamp is lit by pixels
The Vision One-Eleven is characterized by a retro design inspired by the C111 prototype developed by Benz in 1970. The front end, with pixel-shaped lights and a wedge-shaped profile, is connected by curved lines. Considering aerodynamic performance, the bonnet and fenders are voluminous and smoothly connected.
A standout feature is the iconic gull-wing doors, which open together with the roof glass, giving the car a distinctive look. The sharp side skirts and aggressive rear diffuser further emphasize the supercar’s dynamic character. At the back, the taillights adopt an oval shape with pixelated illumination, while the long rear window enhances its sporty vibe. As Mercedes-Benz moves closer to producing this electric supercar, all eyes are on how much of the Vision One-Eleven’s design will make it into the final model.
