The Toyota Corolla, a compact front-wheel-drive vehicle that first hit the road in 1966, has become the world’s best-selling car, with over 50 million units sold by July 2021. Thanks to its renowned durability, the Corolla has been a go-to choice for American consumers, especially first-time buyers.
Given its massive popularity, Toyota has expanded the lineup with variants like the sporty GR Corolla, the versatile Corolla Hatchback, the Corolla Touring wagon, and the Corolla Cross SUV. However, since the 12th-generation Corolla debuted in 2018, only a refreshed model was released in 2022, and there has been little news about what’s next—until now.
First Look: Next-Gen Corolla Rendering Shows a Bold Transformation
Speculation is swirling that Toyota will introduce the next-generation Corolla between 2026 and 2027. In the meantime, an intriguing rendering of the new model has surfaced, stirring interest among fans. This virtual design, created by an automotive artist, is clearly aimed at the U.S. market, where the Corolla remains a top seller.
The rendering hints at a more muscular and dynamic appearance, borrowing design cues from Toyota’s latest models like the new Prius and Camry. The front end is a standout feature, where the headlights connect seamlessly with a black panel that extends forward, giving the car a bold, aggressive stance.
Sharper Headlights and a Redesigned Grille
The front headlights are noticeably slimmer and more angular, with sharp edges that add to the car’s futuristic vibe. The grille, which dominates the front fascia, ditches the previous diamond pattern for a more horizontal, grid-like design. Vertical lines intersect the grille’s dense horizontal layout, creating a more complex and striking visual effect.
The hood features pronounced, sculpted lines running along its sides and center, adding to the car’s muscular look. The bonnet design flows smoothly into the redesigned front end, giving the new Corolla a more masculine, assertive presence than the current model. The side profile reveals new wheels with a pentagon-inspired design, while the character line extending from the headlights to the taillights emphasizes the car’s sleek proportions.
Luxury Meets Sport: Two-Tone Roof and Chrome Accents
In addition, volume and lines were placed around the side skirts, and each line was given a subtle curve to add detail. A black finish was applied from the side A-pillar to the roof line to create a two-tone look with the body. A thin chrome line was added below the window belt and roofline to create a sense of luxury.
The rear design has not been revealed this time, but judging from the taillights that have been revealed, they appear to have been thinner and similar to the front. The upper part of the taillights protrudes in a way that seems to poke the rear quarter panel. While the rendering of the next-generation Toyota Corolla with a bolder design is gaining favorable reviews, attention is being paid to the launch schedule of the next-generation Corolla.
