Nissan’s full-size pickup truck Titan is set to be discontinued this year
Will a new model based on the Armada emerge?

Nissan’s full-size pickup, the Titan, is set to be discontinued, marking the end of an era for the brand in the U.S. truck market. The Titan, which first launched in 2003 and saw a full redesign in 2015, has struggled with sales in recent years. In 2023, fewer than 20,000 units were sold in the U.S., and the model was pulled from the Canadian market in 2020.

With production officially ending by 2024, Nissan has stated there will be no direct successor to the Titan. However, rumors are swirling that the company could quietly work on a replacement pickup model based on the Armada, its large SUV. A recently released virtual rendering of a potential Armada-based truck has fueled speculation.

Could the Armada Pickup Be Nissan’s Next Move?

Theottle, a creator specializing in automotive CGI rendering, released a virtual rendering of the Nissan Armada pickup truck on September 10. This concept builds on the recently launched third-generation Armada, which debuted in September 2024. Since the current Titan shares its platform with the Armada and Nissan Patrol, it’s plausible that an Armada-based pickup could share many similarities with the Titan.

The virtual rendering showcases bold headlamps set against a trapezoidal grille, while a silver skid plate adds a rugged touch to the lower front bumper. The black high-gloss accents on the mirrors and wheels give the truck a unified, polished appearance. The Armada’s floating roof design, with blacked-out pillars, would create a distinctive aesthetic if applied to a pickup model.

A Sporty Yet Rugged Look: Rear Design Details

The rear of the virtual Armada pickup remains similar to the SUV version but closely resembles the outgoing Titan. Horizontal tail lamps have been removed, leaving only the lamp boxes on the rear fenders. The tailgate, featuring a prominent Nissan logo and a functional handle, emphasizes its pickup truck identity.

The rectangular license plate space in the center of the rear bumper blends well with the rugged image of the Armada pickup truck. Considering the chassis’s temporary torsion, a generous step was provided between the cargo area and the cabin room. The upper rear part of the cabin room is equipped with a lip spoiler that includes an auxiliary brake light, giving it a sporty feel.

Potential Powertrain Shift: From V8 to V6 Turbo?

If Nissan were to release this Armada-based pickup, it would likely share much of its interior with the Armada SUV. The panoramic display—consisting of two large, connected screens—would offer ample digital cluster and infotainment functionality. The design would also include a large center console with plenty of storage.

As for the powertrain, a downsized 3.5L V6 twin-turbo engine is expected to replace the Titan’s current V8. This engine could deliver an impressive 431 horsepower and 71.3 kgf.m of torque, offering substantial performance for a pickup truck while improving efficiency.
