BTS’ RM has announced the global release of his first documentary film, set to premiere on December 5. Titled RM: Right People, Wrong Place, the film chronicles the creative process behind his second solo album, Right Place, Wrong Person, over eight months. It offers an honest glimpse into Kim Namjoon’s thoughts and struggles as he explores his passions and interests.

In May of this year, RM released his second solo album, Right Place, Wrong Person, which delves into universal feelings of alienation and the search for identity during times of feeling like an outsider. As the leader of BTS and a solo artist, RM has wrestled with the question, “Who am I really?” This journey captures the unfamiliar emotions and stories he encounters in his quest for authenticity. The documentary provides an in-depth look at the making of his album, highlighting his dedication, challenges, and genuine self-reflection.

Alongside announcing its global release, the film’s main poster has been unveiled, showcasing its stunning mise-en-scène and unique character. The poster features RM in a collage of various poses set against a vibrant backdrop, effectively conveying the film’s theme through the contrast between space and subject. This artistic representation encapsulates the message behind the title RM: Right People, Wrong Place and builds anticipation for the film’s distinctive atmosphere.

RM: Right People, Wrong Place will be released on December 5 in South Korea and over 90 other countries and regions worldwide.

Meanwhile, HYBE, the agency behind BTS, has been navigating a series of controversies. In April, allegations surfaced regarding former CEO Min Hee Jin’s attempt to seize control of ADOR, an unresolved dispute. Additionally, Hanni, a member of NewJeans, recently appeared at a parliamentary hearing to address bullying allegations. During the hearing, HYBE faced criticism for allegedly compiling industry-trend reports that included provocative evaluations of idol group members’ appearances, leading to a further backlash.

As RM’s film approaches its release, all eyes are on whether HYBE can effectively navigate these challenges.
