Top 3 Upcoming Sports Cars

Carsales

As the transition to electric vehicles accelerates, the space for traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) sports cars is rapidly shrinking. Yet, there remains a strong contingent of enthusiasts who prefer the visceral experience of gasoline-powered engines and are not ready to embrace EVs fully. For them, the coexistence of ICE and electric vehicles is still a hope, especially in high-performance sports cars where the sound and feel of a roaring engine remain unmatched.

Several exciting new ICE sports cars are set to hit the market in 2025, defying the EV wave. Three standout models will cater to those not ready to say goodbye to gasoline.

BMW M2 CS: The Return of Pure Driving Fun

The first car on our list is the BMW M2 CS, BMW’s compact and elegant performance car that keeps the spirit of driving fun alive. Often seen as the spiritual successor to earlier, lighter M3 models, the new M2 CS is expected to debut next year. BMW enthusiasts will be pleased to hear it will share the same inline 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine as the latest M3 and M4, delivering a punchy 518 horsepower.

While it’s unclear if a manual transmission will be offered, the M2 CS will likely feature an automatic gearbox. Design updates are rumored to include a ducktail spoiler for added flair and downforce. As BMW’s smallest and most agile M car, the M2 CS is poised to keep the brand’s driving purity intact for a little longer.

Porsche 911 GT3 992.2: Track or Touring, Your Choice

Next up is the Porsche 911 GT3 992.2, set to launch in 2025 in both track-focused and road-ready trims. The current 992-generation GT3 has already set a high bar, and the facelifted model will carry forward its motorsport heritage. Powering the 2025 GT3 is a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine, delivering a thrilling 502 horsepower—keeping the heart of Porsche’s legacy alive.

Available with both a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and a 6-speed manual for purists, the GT3 will also offer customizable options, including a lightweight package with carbon fiber-reinforced plastic components. Porsche continues to offer the ultimate track-day experience without losing its everyday usability, making the GT3 a standout in the dying breed of naturally aspirated sports cars.

Chevrolet Corvette Zora: American Muscle Meets Hybrid Power

Finally, we have America’s icon, the Corvette, which is set to enter new territory with the rumored high-performance Zora model.
