Toyota’s Steady Seller RAV4
Redesigned RAV4 Rendering Revealed
Expect a Design that Transcends Segment
The Toyota RAV4, a globally popular compact SUV since its 1994 debut, is gearing up for a much-anticipated redesign. With five generations under its belt, the current model—launched in 2018—is now in its seventh year, making it due for a refresh. Though Toyota has yet to release a prototype for testing on public roads, anticipation is high, and recent renderings offer a glimpse of what might be in store for this beloved model’s next generation.
A Family Look with the Tacoma and Sequoia
On October 28, Motor1 shared a rendering of the upcoming Toyota RAV4, offering a speculative glimpse into the next-generation model. Since the vehicle is still in testing and has yet to be spotted on the road, the rendering is based purely on informed imagination. Motor1 suggests that the new RAV4 will adopt a family resemblance to Toyota’s larger models, like the Tacoma and Sequoia.
The rendering shows a more substantial front-end design with a more robust silhouette than the current model. By streamlining elements and refining the proportions, Toyota aims for a slightly larger, more confident look. The high-set headlamps have shifted to a horizontal orientation, giving the front a more cohesive, structured appearance. Also, the bonnet’s volume is emphasized starting from the top of the radiator grille, adding a sense of power and presence to the front profile.
Enhanced Grille and Streamlined Side Design
The redesigned RAV4’s front fascia is marked by a larger hexagonal grille with a honeycomb pattern, lending it a more upscale appearance. Below, a trapezoidal air intake is reminiscent of the Tacoma, while the auxiliary lights consist of three simple LED cubes. Finished in matte silver, the skid plate adds a subtle, rugged touch.
The rear design continues the horizontal and vertical lines theme, giving the new RAV4 a bold, structured appearance. The character line extending from the second-row door to the rear quarter panel adds dimension, while larger rear quarter glass increases perceived size. Minimal chrome detailing on the tailgate, similar to the newly released Camry, keeps the design clean, with a dark-colored garnish between the tail lamps and rectangular bumper lower garnish maintaining a sense of understated style.
Expected Interior and Powertrain Updates
While interior renderings haven’t been released, Toyota will likely incorporate updates from its latest models. A large center screen and physical buttons for climate control are expected, along with a new horizontal layout for the dashboard and center console. Powering the new RAV4 will likely be an improved version of the 2.5L gasoline-based hybrid system from the current model, focusing on enhanced efficiency.
The redesigned RAV4 is anticipated to be revealed in late 2025, with sales projected to start in early 2026. The expected price is around 4.61 million yen (roughly $30,000), keeping it competitively positioned in the compact SUV market. As excitement builds, the redesigned RAV4 looks poised to continue Toyota’s legacy in the segment with a fresh and modern take.
