Tesla Model Y Facelift
Soon to be in production
It looks like it’s about to be launched
Tesla’s highly anticipated Model Y facelift, previously referred to as “Project Juniper,” is gearing up for its official launch in January 2025. According to Tesla Newswire, CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the updated Model Y would not be released in 2024, aligning with previous announcements. The new model will begin production at Tesla’s Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai, where production lines are being adapted to accommodate both the old and new versions of the vehicle.
Anticipation rises for the new Model Y, with online rendering sparking interest
Leaked images and renderings have sparked significant interest, revealing a more refined and futuristic design for the Model Y Juniper. The updated model will likely feature a sleeker silhouette similar to the recent Model 3 Highland facelift. Expected changes include sharper headlamps, a distinctive ㄷ-shaped tail lamp, and a rear light bar with the word “TESLA” prominently displayed. The Model Y is rumored to receive a major overhaul, with a 15.4-inch center display, ambient lighting, and new interior trims, including carbon-style accents. A yoke steering wheel and second-row display may be offered as options, further modernizing the cabin.
Will it return with an overwhelming performance?
They are also selling off their inventory
The 2025 Model Y will likely have a new 95 kWh battery, improving the long-range model’s driving capabilities. While the current version with a 75 kWh battery offers a range of 449 km (279 miles), the facelifted Model Y is expected to exceed 500 km (311 miles) on a single charge, based on the new battery specs. This will further solidify the Model Y’s place as one of the leading electric SUVs on the market.
Ahead of the release of the Model Y facelift, Tesla has begun offering discounts to clear out the inventory of existing models. Customers can use a 10,000 yuan ($1,376) discount on the RWD and Long Range AWD versions and an additional 5-year interest-free installment option. The Model Y’s starting price now stands at 239,900 yuan ($33,015), making it an attractive option as the new version prepares to hit the market.

Will they turn things around after the robo-taxi failure?
Tesla’s Model Y has proven to be a popular choice, with 13,672 units sold in South Korea from January to September this year, ranking among the top-selling vehicles in its category. However, following the rocky reception of Tesla’s robo-taxi reveal in October, the company is reportedly shifting its focus back to Model Y to restore confidence. Leaked prototypes and renderings of the upcoming facelift have generated considerable buzz, hinting at the next chapter in Tesla’s quest to dominate the electric vehicle market.
With its performance improvements, innovative features, and enhanced design, the 2025 Model Y facelift is poised further to cement Tesla’s position in the competitive EV landscape.
