DAY6 has announced they will pursue legal action in response to rumors involving member Dowoon. On Monday, the group’s agency, JYP Entertainment, issued an official statement addressing the issue: “False information about Dowoon has recently been recklessly spread and widely circulated.” The agency continued, “We will take a strong stance against the spread of baseless rumors and any malicious defamation aimed at DAY6 and its members.”
The statement also issued a warning: “If the spread of false information or amplification of rumors continues, or if actions that damage our artists’ reputation and character persist, we will take severe legal action.”
JYP Entertainment further emphasized its commitment to protecting its artists, stating, “We will make every effort to safeguard our artists and will pursue all available legal measures, with no leniency or compromises.”
This announcement follows a recent incident involving Dowoon. On December 3, amidst political unrest in South Korea after President Yoon Suk Yeol declared and lifted martial law, Dowoon posted a photo on his social media account showing him practicing drums while wearing a military uniform. Given the politically sensitive climate at the time, the post attracted criticism from some fans.
In other news, DAY6, the group to which Dowoon belongs, will make history by holding its solo concert, The Present, on December 20 and 21 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro-gu, Seoul. This will mark the first time a domestic K-pop band has performed at the prestigious venue.
