Former T-ARA member Ham Eun Jung recently marked her first birthday following her mother’s passing.
On Thursday, Ham Eung Jung took to her social media to share a heartfelt message with her fans. “For the past few years, I’ve redefined my birthday—not just as a day for me to receive congratulations, but as a time to express my gratitude to my mom,” she wrote.
Ham Eun Jung reflected on the day’s significance: “I realized this day must have been incredibly meaningful for my mom, especially at her age. I always wondered why there wasn’t a celebration for her efforts. As an only child, it took a long time for me to be born, so my birthday became an opportunity for me to show my appreciation for all of her sacrifices and dedication.” She continued, “Perhaps because this is my first birthday after unexpectedly losing my mom, I miss her even more. But thanks to the condolences and support from so many, I’m finding the strength to move forward.”
In her reflection, she shared how she has come to understand her mother’s intentions: “I now understand that my mom wanted to shield me from worries so I could focus on the positive aspects of life and my work. Even when things are difficult, I’m determined to carry on and work hard, honoring her memory.” She added, “Although I haven’t been able to reach out to everyone personally due to the circumstances, I’m deeply grateful to all those who reached out to me and offered their condolences.”
Along with her post, Ham Eun Jung shared a touching photo of herself with her mother and a handwritten letter from her mom. The letter read: “Thank you for always understanding my feelings, my dear daughter. You’re doing well, but I hope you continue to respect everyone and live with a grateful heart. I wish for you to grow into a wise and discerning person. Thank you for being born as my daughter. Love, Mom.”
In addition, Ham Eun Jung’s agency, Mask Studio, announced her mother’s passing on November 27.
