VANNER’s Hyesung receives early discharge from the military due to health concerns.
KLAP Entertainment, the agency behind the K-pop group VANNER, announced on Monday through its official fan cafe that Hyesung has been granted an early discharge from his mandatory military service due to health reasons.
The agency provided further details, explaining, “Two weeks after beginning basic training, Hyesung was admitted to the National Defense Hospital in Daejeon for a full medical evaluation. Pre-existing mental health issues, including panic disorder, prompted this. After a thorough assessment, it was determined that Hyesung could not continue with regular military service and would require ongoing treatment, which led to his early discharge.”
KLAP Entertainment regretted the situation, saying, “We sincerely apologize for any distress this unexpected news may cause fans awaiting updates on Hyesung. While we understand the concerns, we kindly ask for your understanding as we cannot provide any additional details beyond what has been shared. Our main focus will be supporting Hyesung’s treatment and recovery moving forward.”
Hyesung enlisted in November, becoming the third member of VANNER to begin military service, following Gon and Sung Kook. After completing basic training, he was initially scheduled to serve as an active-duty soldier. However, due to the challenges posed by his panic disorder and mental health issues, the training center determined that he would be unable to fulfill his duties. As a result, he was transferred to the National Defense Hospital for further evaluation.
When Hyesung was hospitalized, the agency announced, “Hyesung is currently undergoing treatment as directed by the Military Manpower Administration. Unfortunately, he cannot attend the graduation ceremony scheduled for December 10. We deeply apologize for any concern caused by Hyesung’s unexpected health issues and assure you that we are fully dedicated to supporting his recovery.”
VANNER, the five-member boy band to which Hyesung belongs, debuted in 2019 with its first full-length album, V. Since then, the group has been actively promoting itself in South Korea and Japan.
