Choi Min Hwan, recently cleared of prostitution charges, has found himself at the center of a new controversy after denying the allegations on social media, only to delete his posts amid public backlash.

On Wednesday, Choi Min Hwan took to the fan platform Weverse to defend himself, writing, “I’ve never been involved in prostitution as reported. How can I prove I didn’t do something without evidence? That’s why I have nothing more to say.”

Amid the scandal, Choi Min Hwan mentioned hotels and motels in leaked recordings of his conversations. He explained, “I went there because I wanted to be alone. I understand it’s hard to believe, but it’s the truth.”

Choi Min Hwan added, “I wish there were concrete evidence to clear my name. I truly had no way to explain or defend myself. I just want people to know I’m innocent. I never considered hiding or running away.”

When a fan pressed him on whether he could outright deny visiting certain establishments, Choi Min Hwan responded with a cryptic statement, “I’ve been tied down for a long time, and I don’t need condoms. I keep my toothbrush clean and always brush my teeth wherever I go. Why is there curiosity about this?”

Choi Min Hwan, who had avoided directly addressing whether he had visited such establishments, deleted the post after facing widespread criticism.

The controversy first surfaced last October when Choi Min Hwan’s ex-wife, Yul Hee, leaked recordings of conversations between Choi Min Hwan and a male acquaintance. The transcripts revealed that Choi Min Hwan discussed the availability of women and asked about hotels and motels. Yul Hee also alleged that Choi Min Hwan, while intoxicated, had once stuffed money into a woman’s chest, intensifying public outrage.

After police cleared him of any criminal wrongdoing, Choi Min Hwan released a statement saying, “Given the spread of one-sided claims and false information, I felt responding hastily without conclusive results could only make things worse. I sincerely apologize for the distress I’ve caused. I deeply regret my actions and am truly reflecting on them.”

In a separate matter, Choi Min Hwan married Yul Hee in 2018. The couple has one son and two daughters. However, the two divorced in May of last year. Choi Min Hwan currently has custody of their children. At the same time, Yul Hee has filed a petition with the Seoul Family Court seeking a modification of custody and claims for alimony and property division.
