United Airlines caused controversy by replacing some flight attendants on the LA Dodgers charter flight with slim, young white women. The flight attendants who suffered direct damage from being excluded from the list have filed a lawsuit against the company. Since 2020, flight attendants on charter flights for college and professional sports teams have sued United Airlines for the second time.

One of the flight attendants who filed the lawsuit, Darby Quezada, is of Mexican and Jewish descent. She said she heard insulting words such as “Mexican cleaning the bathroom” and “housemaid of the airplane” while working. Dawn Todd, a co-plaintiff in the lawsuit, is a black woman who has worked for United Airlines for over 17

years. She claimed that after she voiced complaints about the demotion of black flight attendants and the racial discrimination she experienced, the company retaliated against her.

Quezada and Todd said they were assigned to charter flights based on stereotypes about race and physical conditions“. They heard from management that “white flight attendants have the looks that Dodgers players like.” They are demanding a jury trial and compensation, claiming they are suffering from “severe panic attacks, migraines, emotional distress.”

United Airlines has denied all allegations. United Airlines spokesman Charles Hobart said, “United Airlines does not tolerate any discrimination” and “this lawsuit is worthless, and we will actively protect the company.”
