Elon Musk Tops Global Top 500 Billionaire List, Where Does Samsung Chairman Lee Jae Young Rank?

Bloomberg announced on the 29th (local time) that the net assets of the world’s top 500 wealthy people have increased by a total of $1.5 trillion (approximately 1946.25 trillion won) this year.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the total net asset value of the world’s top 500 wealthy people fell by about $1.4 trillion (approximately 1817.9 trillion won) last year, but it rebounded completely this year recovering the decline from last year. With the hot interest in artificial intelligence (AI), the stock prices of related companies have soared and their total net assets have increased by 48% annually ($658 billion approximately).

The person who increased his assets the most this year is Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. He regained the world’s richest title he had given to Bernard Arnault chairman of LVMH after two years. Musk’s net assets increased by $95.4 billion (approximately 123.7815 trillion won) based on the closing price of the previous day totaling $232 billion (approximately 301.2 trillion won).

Arnault recorded a total of $179 billion (approximately 232.2525 trillion won) in assets, ranking second in the world’s richest. The third place is Jeff Bezos the founder of Amazon who added $71.3 billion (approximately 92.5117 trillion won) to his net assets this year totaling $178 billion (approximately 230.955 trillion won).

Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong was the only Korean to be included in the list of the world’s top 500 wealthy people. His net asset value increased by $3.38 billion (approximately 4.3889 trillion won) this year totaling $9.9 billion (approximately 12.8552 trillion won), and he ranked 228th in the world’s rich list.
