Chinese Car Company Nio Soars to 50th Spot in Global 100 Sustainability Rankings

Chinese electric car startup NIO announced that it has been selected as one of the 2024 Global 100 companies leading the sustainable economy. Among 6,733 companies evaluated worldwide, it rose from 79th place last year to 50th, climbing 29 places.
Corporate Knights, a media and research institution specializing in sustainable economies, announces this ranking annually. It evaluates 6,733 companies with over $100 million in global revenue based on 25 quantitative and 5 qualitative indicators from publicly available data.
NIO revealed that it scored full marks for sustainable earnings and investment. As a UN Global Compact (UNGC) member, NIO emphasizes its continuous improvement of ESG management and practice by integrating sustainable development philosophy into its core values and business decisions and responding to the UN’s sustainable development goals with concrete actions to meet societal expectations.
In 2023, it was the first in China to declare participation in the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). It has also established an Internal Carbon Pricing (ICP) system to provide a foundation and direction for the company’s carbon emission reduction decisions. Recently, it was listed as a green supply chain management company by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and selected as one of the top 10 low-carbon application scenarios for Anhui Province in 2023.
