Tesla is recalling 200,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a rearview camera malfunction.
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on the 26th (local time), Tesla is recalling 199,575 vehicles in the U.S. due to a “software instability issue” that prevents the rear camera videos from displaying. The recall targets the 2023 Model S, X, and Y vehicles.
Tesla, which confirmed 81 defect repair requests related to the rear camera until the 21st, will provide a free software update to resolve this issue. Owners of the recalled vehicles are expected to receive notifications about the recall by mail starting March 22nd.
The NHTSA pointed out that if the rear view does not appear when reversing, it could restrict the driver’s field of vision and increase the risk of accidents.
U.S. media outlets such as CNBC reported that this recall occurred just over a month after Tesla recalled 2 million vehicles due to a defect in the “Autopilot” driving assistance feature in mid-December last year.
