2023’s Top-Selling Pickup Trucks: American Brands Dominate the Charts

mobilitytv Views

2023 Bestseller Pickup Trucks
American brands also show strength
What are the results of the pickup truck competition?

The pickup truck market is one of the rising automobile markets alongside the SUV market. In particular, pickup trucks are always at the top of the car sales charts in the United States, indicating their popularity. 2024 domestic companies will introduce various pickup trucks to capture the consumer market.

Recently, the 2023 Bestseller Pickup Trucks list was released. Some models that had been strong did not make it to the list, and unexpected models rose, bringing a massive shock to the automobile market. Let’s find out which pickup truck was the most loved and how many were sold last year.

Pickup Truck Powerhouses
Ford and Chevrolet

There is a model that cannot be left out in the American pickup truck market. It is a Ford F series. It has been the best-selling truck in the US for 47 consecutive years, and in 2023, it saw a 14.8% increase in sales, with 750,789 units sold. Despite the successful F series, there was a disappointing model. The EV model sold about 24,165 units, which was disappointing, and it was reported that production would be reduced.

The Chevrolet Silverado, which was in decline in 2022, made a turnaround and took second place. The Chevrolet Silverado, with various models ranging from full-size to heavy-duty, saw a 6.1% increase in sales, with 555,148 units sold. This record made it the second most sold pickup truck and vehicle in the US.

Three-letter brands in power?
RAM and GMC

RAM pickup truck sales ranked 3rd, but it was not a laughing matter. 444,926 units were sold, recording a 5% decrease in sales compared to 2022. RAM plans to launch the Hurricane Inline 6 and hybrid models to return to growth. Accordingly, it was reported that the production of the flagship model, V8 Hemi, would be discontinued.

The GMC Sierra, a cousin of the Silverado, also showed a successful rise last year. Industry insiders pointed to the change to the 2022 model as the main reason for the increase. The GMC Sierra achieved a 22.4% increase in sales compared to 2022, with 295,737 units sold, ranking 4th.

Bitter Defeat in the Korea-Japan Match
Hyundai Weeps, and Toyota Laughs

The American pickup truck market also saw a Korea-Japan match take place. However, with Toyota’s overwhelming victory, Hyundai had to accept a bitter report card. The Toyota Tacoma, launched in May 2023, recorded 5th place with a successful sale of 234,768 units in a short period. Toyota also took 6th place, with the Toyota Tundra recording a 20.1% increase in sales with 125,185 units sold.

Hyundai climbed to 12th place with the Santa Cruz. It was known as a competitor to the Ford Maverick(94,058 units sold, 7th place), but it sold 36,675 units, far behind in sales. With a nearly nonexistent growth rate of 1%, it had to accept the evaluation that it was far behind its competitors.
