Aptera Motors Reveals Electric Vehicle with Record-Breaking 994-Mile Range on Single Charge

The concept of mobility, a term encompassing all means of transportation, is gradually evolving. Ten years ago, in 2014, when the BMW i8 was released, not many people thought electric cars would be as widely adopted as they are today. However, electric vehicles have now become a part of our daily lives.

Here is an electric vehicle that can drive 994 miles (1,600 km) on a single charge, attracting the attention of car manufacturers around the world. It’s the Solar EV from electric vehicle startup Aptera Motors.

This futuristic-looking vehicle was created by U.S. electric vehicle startup Aptera Motors. It features three wheels and sky-opening butterfly doors. While the car isn’t particularly large, it comfortably seats two people. If you choose the optional camping tent, you can even use the vehicle for car camping.

Aptera Solar EV has been designed with a focus on efficiency. This vehicle uses the same charging port as Tesla and can drive an impressive 994 miles (1,600 km) on a single charge. This is 2.5 times more efficient than the Tesla Model 3.

Yet to Pass the Crash Test

This EV also has solar panels, so it can run 40 miles (64 km) daily without additional charging just by parking outside. This is more than sufficient for most commutes. Thanks to its lightweight design, this EV also boasts excellent acceleration. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, and its top speed is 112 mph (180 km/h). This vehicle is in the final stage of product development, with its prototype being released and showcased on platforms like YouTube.

However, there are still challenges to overcome. The three-wheel vehicle body has not yet passed crash safety tests. To proceed to actual mass production, it must pass these tests.

Over 40,000 Reservations Made

Aptera is a new company founded in 2019 and headquartered in California, USA. The vehicle can currently be reserved for $33,200 on the website, and it is said that more than 40,000 reservations have already been made. Aptera also secured $33 million in funding to begin early production.

Whether this vehicle can be mass-produced remains to be seen. However, if it is launched, it will likely receive much love from U.S. consumers. Here’s hoping that Aptera will define a new means of transportation.
