A suitcase edition from OMEGA, the Swiss luxury watch brand, has garnered significant attention at a Sotheby’s auction.
OMEGA held an auction for the suitcase edition, which contained 11 Moonswatch Moonshine Gold models, at Sotheby’s online auction from February 12 to 24.
This suitcase edition contained 11 OMEGA X Swatch “Mission to Moonshine Gold” watches.
This is the first time a special Moonswatch and bag in a set have been auctioned off together.
The Moonswatch Collection is a reinterpretation of the original Bio Ceramic Moonswatch, exuding a subtle charm with a second hand coated in a unique alloy, 18K Moonshine™ Gold, developed in-house.
The total proceeds were 534,670 Swiss francs (approximately $607,000), which will be used as necessary funds for Orbis International, a long-term partner.
Orbis is a non-profit organization fighting against preventable blindness and vision loss worldwide.
Its programs and Flying Eye Hospital provide ophthalmic treatment to millions of patients. OMEGA has been supporting Orbis since 2011.
Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA, said, “The special auction captivated the imaginations of Moonswatch fans around the world,” and “I am very pleased that the proceeds from the auction can be delivered to Orbis.”
He added, “OMEGA sincerely believes in Orbis’s mission to protect vision, and we are delighted to be able to raise funds along with increasing awareness of their activities.”
